[J. Rohwer (HBG) 1986:] Syntypes of Oreodaphne nitidula Nees, Linnaea 8: 41 (1833). The author referred the three collections to 3 unnamed varities, alpha, beta and gamma. In Syst. Laurin., p. 406 (1836) he effectively lectotypified the name in the sense of var. alpha by expressing doubt about the identity of var. beta and gamma.
