Habitat

restinga forest on white sand.

Habitus

Graceful bamboo forming a very large clump, 1.8m diam., of ca. 190 closely placed culms, these up to 13m tall, 2-2.5cm diam., erect but thinner at the tips and hanging, mostly self-supporting, striated dark-light green when young, short-pubescent with a ring of white hairs belox the node. Culm leaves caducous: sheath lanate; blade reflexed. Foliage delicate, the leaves green with purplish petiole and sheath. 130 branches at one measured node. One culm found with a few flowing branches.
