Terrestrial; internodes short, 3.6 cm diam.; cataphylls sharply D-shaped with raised, acute margins, medium green, semiglossy, persisting semi-intact at upper nodes; petioles sharply flattened, dark green and semiglossy, tinged violet-purple toward apex, adult plants with obtuse medial rib toward apex, prominently üale-striate; blades subcoriaceous, dark green and semiglossy above, moderately paler and semiglossy below; midrib flattened and slightly paler above, narrowly rounded and faintly purplish below; primary lateral veins obtusely and prominently sunken, concolorous above, convex and purplish below; minor veins moderately distinct below.
