Find a can that fits snuggly over the filler cap of the feeder.  Cut a slot across the bottom of the the can for the hanger.

Put the can on the feeder slipping the slot over the hanger and seat the can on the filler cap.

Now the tree rats have  nowhere to land before they do acrobatics and gobble up the birds' seed.

The seed is only for the song birds.

The birds do miss the branches from which the feeders used to hang before the ice storm.

Thank you Wendy at "50 States Bird Feeders" for your advice, great assortment of feeding apparatus and many varieties of seed, nuts and other goodies to keep the birds happy.   [She's just west of the firehouse on Martway west of Lamar in Mission, Kansas  913-362-5611]
