Another
War Against Iraq by
Congressman Ron Paul, MD Is military action now the foreign policy of first resort for the
United States? When it comes to other countries and warring disputes,
the United States counsels dialogue without exception. We urge the
Catholics and Protestants to talk to each other, we urge the Israelis
and Palestinians to talk to each other. Even at the height of the Cold
War, when the Soviet Union had missiles pointed at us from 90 miles away
in Cuba, we solved the dispute through dialogue and diplomacy. Why is
it, in this post Cold War era, that the United States seems to turn
first to the military to solve its foreign policy problems? Is diplomacy
dead? [

Will the UN
Issue Global ID Cards?by
Lowell Ponte
THE NEWS SLIPPED PAST almost unnoticed amid last week’s bombings,
sales, and religious celebrations. In Geneva a United Nations gathering
heard a proposal for registering, identifying, fingerprinting, and
monitoring the movement of every human on our planet. [

Shibboleths
versus survival by Thomas
Sowell
Those
who like to think of themselves as citizens of the world may be offended
by the distinction between American citizens and others. Those who want
all our rights extended even to our enemies do not understand that
survival is the number one right. Without survival, all your other
rights don't amount to a hill of beans. As Supreme Court Justice Robert
Jackson once put it: "The Constitution of the United States is not
a suicide pact." [

American
587: Manipulation
of the Public Mind for Political Purpose
by James D. Sanders
Nov. 12, 2001, is a
case study in manipulation of the public mind for political purpose. The
federal government instantly declared American 587 to be a mechanical
event. Less than 30 minutes of deliberation within the national security
structure and White House was required to make the decision and set the
mind control operation into motion. [I
don't have the foggiest idea of what happened to American Flight #587;
but the information disseminated by the gov't and the Media is
consistent with that to which I have become accustomed: i.e., it
smells. And that is a bigger tragedy than the one being lied
about. ICE] [

You
might be a terroristby
Brad Edmonds LewRockwell.com
H.R. 3162, "The Patriot Bill," or the antiterrorism bill,
might make you a terrorist. Any persons among us who have accepted that
certain civil liberties must be abridged in time of war, or forever, for
the sake of security, are going to learn Ben Franklin’s lesson the
hard way: Those who would give up freedom for security deserve, and will
get, neither.

226th Birthday of the U. S. Marine Corps Colonel
Bates' words at Marine Corps Birthday Balls in Japan and in China:
"History will judge us. How we confront this chapter of American
history will be important for the future of this great nation. This will
be a war like none other we have endured. The combatants will not just
be the soldier on the battlefront, but will be fought by the citizens as
well. The outcome of this war will be determined by how well we remain
vigilant, how patient we are with tightened security, how well we
support the economy, and most importantly, the resolve we show the
enemy. There are some things worth fighting for. Our country is one of
them." [

Is
the Government Us? by Joe
Sobran
As patriots, we love our country. As we should. We love our families,
our neighbors, and those we recognize as our countrymen – all those
with whom we share a broad set of customs, traditions, morals, and
countless other subtle and implicit links that are difficult to spell
out. But, this is a very different thing from submitting to
the dictates of the state, which is composed of venal politicians –
men who swear on a Bible they don't believe in to uphold a Constitution
they have no respect for. [

War on Terrorism cf. War on
Drugs by Ron Paul
In the last 30 years, we have spent
hundreds of billions of dollars on a failed war on drugs. This war has
been used as an excuse to attack our liberties and privacy. It has been
an excuse to undermine our financial privacy while promoting illegal
searches and seizures with many innocent people losing their lives and
property. Seizure and forfeiture have harmed a great number of innocent
American citizens. [

Safety and Freedom by

Last spring the Bush administration announced a
$40-million gift to Afghanistan's Taliban government in consideration of
its promise to ban opium production. If the administration wants to
prosecute people who aid and abet terrorists, it should turn itself in
immediately. [

A
Time for Calm Reflection and Adherence to Law by
Jacob G.
Hornberger
With crisis comes both danger and
opportunity. The danger is that U.S. government officials will make life
for the American people even more unsafe and insecure, both by what they
do internationally out of their own anger and thirst for revenge and
also by accelerating their long-standing assaults on the civil liberties
of the American people. [
